Duration: 25 minPrerequisites: masculin-femininValidation threshold: 80%

1. Objective

By the end, you will recognise singular and plural nouns and form the regular plural with -s.

2. I discover

Compare “un livre / des livres” and “la table / les tables”. What changes in the determiner and at the end of the noun?

3. I understand

For many nouns, the plural is made by adding -s: un livre → des livres. The determiner changes too: un/une becomes des, le/la becomes les. The final -s is usually silent.

un livre → des livresune table → des tablesle café → les cafésla photo → les photosun ami → des amisune question → des questions
Watch out

English also often uses -s, but French articles change with the noun: a book → des livres, the book → les livres.
