Say your name
Je m’appelle… is the standard phrase for “My name is…”. Je suis… can introduce identity or nationality.
Origin and residence
Je viens de… means “I come from…”. J’habite à… means “I live in…”.
Talk about language ability
Je parle un peu français means “I speak a little French”. Je ne comprends pas is a useful backup phrase.
