Irregular feminine forms

A complete lesson on “Irregular feminine forms” in French.

Duration: 25 minPrerequisites: pluriels-x-auxValidation threshold: 80%

1. Objective

By the end, you will recognise and produce several common irregular or special feminine forms.

2. I discover

Compare: acteur/actrice; vendeur/vendeuse; sportif/sportive. Does the ending always change in the same way?

3. I understand

Some French feminine forms are not made by simply adding -e. Common patterns include acteur → actrice, vendeur → vendeuse, sportif → sportive, heureux → heureuse. Learn frequent patterns instead of adding one letter mechanically.
