Level A1

Writing your first sentence

Build a simple French sentence with a capital letter, subject, verb and full stop.

Duration: 25 minPrerequisites: lecture-comprehension-1Validation threshold: 80%

1. Objective

By the end, you will write a complete simple sentence and check its four essential elements.

2. I discover

Compare “je travaille à Nantes” and “Je travaille à Nantes.” The second is ready for a message or form. Why?

3. I understand

A written sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with punctuation. In the simplest model, it has a subject and a verb: “Je travaille.” You can then add a complement.

Je travaille.Tu habites à Lyon.Nous prenons le bus.Elle parle français.Ils arrivent demain.Vous êtes ici.
Watch out

Do not check grammar only: the capital letter and full stop are part of a written sentence.
