🇫🇷 A bit of French culture
"Chanson française" is a genre of its own, where lyrics matter as much as music. Édith Piaf (1915-1963), nicknamed "La Môme Piaf", remains the world's best-known French voice. Charles Aznavour was of Armenian descent and Stromae is Belgian : proof that French-language song reaches beyond France. Every 21 June, France celebrates the Fête de la Musique, created in 1982: musicians play for free in streets across the country.
