🇫🇷 A bit of French culture
In French, the possessive adjective changes according to the GENDER OF THE THING owned, not the owner's gender: "mon" (masculine), "ma" (feminine), "mes" (plural). The most striking quirk: before a feminine noun starting with a vowel, "mon" is used instead of "ma", purely for pronunciation reasons : "mon amie" (my friend), even though "amie" is feminine! This often surprises beginners.
