🇫🇷 A bit of French culture
French uses the partitive article (du, de la, des) to indicate an unspecified quantity: "Je veux du pain" (some bread, an unspecified amount) differs from "Je veux le pain" (THE specific bread being discussed). Rule: du + masculine noun, de la + feminine noun, de l' + noun starting with a vowel, des + plural. In the negative form, everything becomes "de": "Je ne veux pas de pain".
