Albanian vowels — identify and understand
A complete lesson on “Albanian vowels — identify and understand” in standard Albanian.
1. Objective
By the end, you will name the seven written Albanian vowels and identify them in simple words.
2. I discover
Underline the vowels in mal, det, këtu, mirë, mot, unë, sy. Can you find all seven letters?
3. I understand
Standard Albanian has seven written vowels: a, e, ë, i, o, u, y. Start by learning the set and finding them in simple words: mal, det, këtu, mirë, mot, unë, sy.
a → male → detë → këtui → mirëo → motu → unëy → sy
Watch out
ë and y are vowels too: do not classify them as consonants just because they may look unfamiliar.
4. Guided practice
5. Independent practice
6. I write / I speak
Write three new Albanian examples using the feature, then check every letter.
7. Check my learning
8. What I remember
The seven written vowels are: a, e, ë, i, o, u, y.
9. Now I can…
- I can recognise the feature in new words.
- I can write it without replacing Albanian letters.
