Albanian alphabetical order

Use the order of the 36 Albanian letters, including digraph letters, to alphabetise words.

Duration: 25 minPrerequisites: alphabet-quizValidation threshold: 80%

1. Objective

By the end, you will compare two words and place them in Albanian alphabetical order.

2. I discover

Look at the start of the alphabet: a, b, c, ç, d, dh, e, ë… Where would you place “çaj” relative to “copë” and “djalë”?

3. I understand

The Albanian alphabet has 36 letters: a b c ç d dh e ë f g gj h i j k l ll m n nj o p q r rr s sh t th u v x xh y z zh. Digraphs such as dh or gj count as one letter and have their own place. Compare the first differing letter.

c < ç < dd < dh < eg < gj < hl < ll < mn < nj < or < rr < s
Watch out

Do not sort as in English: ç and the digraph letters have their own positions in the Albanian alphabet.
