Duration: 25 minPrerequisites: lexim-rrokjeValidation threshold: 80%

1. Objective

By the end, you will recognise these digraphs as single letters of the Albanian alphabet and avoid splitting them while reading.

2. I discover

Look at “dhomë, gjuhë, rrugë, shok”. The two characters at the start represent one letter of the Albanian alphabet.

3. I understand

The Albanian alphabet contains several letters written with two characters: dh, gj, ll, nj, rr, sh, th, xh, zh. They count as one letter alphabetically and should be recognised as a unit when reading.

dhomë → dhgjuhë → gjllambë → llnjeri → njrrugë → rrshok → shthikë → thxhaketë → xhzhurmë → zh
Watch out

These are not merely two consonants next to each other; in the Albanian alphabet they are distinct letters.
