Compare: djalë/djem; grua/gra; njeri/njerëz. Can all these plurals be produced by one mechanical rule?
3. I understand
Several Albanian nouns have plurals that cannot be predicted by adding one universal ending. Common examples include djalë → djem, burrë → burra, grua → gra, njeri → njerëz, qytet → qytete. Learn singular and plural together.
Do not invent a plural by always adding -a or -e. For frequent irregular nouns, memorise the singular/plural pair.
