Basic demonstratives — identify and understand
Choose between ky and kjo with singular Albanian nouns according to grammatical gender.
1. Objective
By the end, you will choose ky or kjo before several common singular nouns.

Observe: ky libër / kjo shtëpi. Does the demonstrative change with the noun’s gender?
3. I understand
Ky and kjo point to a nearby person or thing: ky with a masculine singular noun, kjo with a feminine singular noun. Ky libër = this book; kjo shtëpi = this house.

Watch out
The choice of ky/kjo depends on Albanian grammatical gender, which may not match the gender of a translated word in another language.
