Stage 1 · A1

Level A1

Frequent verbs in the present

Understand and use several very frequent Albanian present-tense verbs in everyday sentences.

Duration: 25 minPrerequisites: pronouns-beValidation threshold: 80%

1. Objective

By the end, you will recognise and use frequent forms of punoj, flas, lexoj, pi, shkoj and jetoj.

2. I discover

Read: “Unë punoj. Ti lexon. Ai flet shqip. Ne pimë kafe.” Which word expresses the action in each sentence?

3. I understand

Albanian verbs change with person. Here, learn frequent forms in context: unë punoj, ti lexon, ai flet, ne pimë, ju shkoni, ata jetojnë. The goal is not yet to derive every conjugation pattern.

Unë punoj në Tiranë.Ti lexon gazetën.Ai flet shqip.Ne pimë kafe.Ju shkoni në punë.Ata jetojnë në Francë.
Watch out

Do not generalise one ending to every verb. Albanian has several conjugation patterns; learn these forms as reliable chunks.

4. Guided practice

5. Independent practice

6. I write / I speak

Write six sentences about your day using punoj, lexoj, flas, pi, shkoj or jetoj with a suitable subject.

7. Check my learning

8. What I remember

Always observe subject + verb together: unë punoj, ti lexon, ai flet, ne pimë, ju shkoni, ata jetojnë.
