Level A2

Relative clauses with që — practise and choose the right form

Link a noun to a simple relative clause with që in common Albanian sentences.

Duration: 25 minPrerequisites: fjalia-relative-qe-kuptoValidation threshold: 80%

1. Objective

By the end, you will understand and build several simple relative clauses with që.

2. I discover

Compare: libri / libri që lexoj. What extra information does që lexoj add?

3. I understand

Albanian që often links a noun to a clause that identifies or describes it: libri që lexoj = the book that I read; vajza që punon këtu = the girl who works here. The same që can correspond to different English relative words depending on function.

libri që lexojvajza që punon këtuautobusi që vjenmiku që njohshtëpia që shohimushqimi që porositëm
Watch out

Do not mechanically translate që as one single relative word. Look at the role of the clause in the whole sentence.

4. Guided practice

5. Independent practice

6. I write / I speak

Produce three new Albanian sentences using the target feature, then check each word form.

7. Check my learning

8. What I remember

Common pattern: noun + që + clause. E.g. libri që lexoj; vajza që punon këtu.

9. Now I can…

  • I can recognise the structure in a new sentence.
  • I can use it with different vocabulary.
